This course serves as a review of leptospirosis in the dog. It will discuss the agent of the disease, prevalence, geography, and transmission of leptospirosis. Risk factors of leptospirosis will be addressed by species and environment. Clinical presentation of the disease in dogs, as well as testing and treatment, will be reviewed. Using the American Animal Hospital Association guidelines, canine vaccination recommendation for leptospirosis are outlined, along with other risk-mitigating factors.
